OpenID broken...

... well... sortof...

My openid implementation is a wee bit broken at the mo people.

You can signin/register, as long as your openid provider supports the sreg extension. Specifically, it needs to respond with a `nick` and an `email` element.

Sorry folks…

Ooops

... Sorry guys...

I broke the feeds last night.

Should be working now though.

It's alive... again...

Mwhahahaha

I got bored and finished off the code behind this site.

It’s more of a feed aggregator now than ever before, only it’s only aggregating my feeds. Meh, it’s a cheap way of getting a site that updates all the time.

Of course there’s spammy posts, like my music feed, but that can easily be silenced. I’ve polished here, and there, added little nuggets of usefulness including sitemap.xml main feed… so yeah… should be good now.

Something wicked this way comes!

Fun and games in lalaland of Python and Django

Finally!

I’ve managed after a few weeks working on this, here and there, to finally get the ideas and bug fixes I had while putting together my previous blog and put them in code.

You’re now looking at the all new wonderfully shiny new gotworms.co.uk.

What? It looks the same? Yeah, sadly it does… But it’s an all new engine under the hood… and this beast has an internet connection.

Yes my friends, foes and casual browsers my website has an internet connection!

You’re probably wondering what manner of narcotics I’ve been taking ...

Programs about programs

Metaprogramming and severe brain drain

It’s that time of year again where I find myself looking harder at an area of development and programming that I once thought of as requiring severe levels of black coffee, sacrifices at dawn and various other ritual elements before even beginning to understand it.

I’ve looked at it before, and thought “I’ll never have a use for it”, it’s too much black magic for me. However, I’m doing alot of work in LDAP of late, and it’s somewhat of a pain in the arse to have no way of pre-modeling my tree in ...

Hrm, upgrades looming

... no seriously

I think it’s that time of year, where I should really put some updates live.

Of course, I’ve first got to finish the updates… I’ve written a crap load of stuff in django over recent months since I first started playing. I’m still not happy with the whole loose coupling between views and the results, but that’s to be somewhat expected.

I’m trying desperately to not go down the XML/XSL route and write a new templating system based on that since it’s not written from the ground up for that kind of ...

Christmas Festivities

bah humbug

Christmas has never really held much sway in my book.

I used to be quite enthused by the whole thing, but these days, I’ve little time for it. In fact, the truth be told, I hate Christmas. It reminds me of a time which I would much rather forget.

It also doesn’t help that it’s no-longer about the family… It’s about buying presents for everyone. It’s about being “generous”. You’ve got kids on the play ground counting presents and besting everyone with how many presents they have. You’ve got parents, putting themselves into ...

New look...

... same tiger, different stripes

Decided to update the design a bit becuase the old one was a bit clunky and felt as if I had bolted bits on, which in essence is the truth. I had come accross bits I wanted to present, but didn’t have any means to present them properly on the old design, so had to hack bits into it.

I’ve now updated it at bit.

I’m almost there with the feeds, comments and registration stuffs.

Anyway… I think it looks alright… a little dark maybe, but not too bad.

In other news, having passed my test, I ...

Starting a fresh...

Getting my feet wet

Ok,

So gotworms.co.uk has been offline for a while now. I know I put up some index a while ago which said something along the lines of ‘I was doing my own thing’ but still after a year and a half things still had not moved on.

So what happend?

Well some little pissant decided to use my blog, which was running a version of Drupal that was vulnerable to some RPC attacks to compromise the server on which it was running. Since it was a shared server with other people, I thought this mighty unsporting, and thought ...
