Well here goes...

Well people, here goes the first real blog entry of gotworms.co.uk.

Not really a launch, more like a feeble chuck into the void that is the internet… It’s not function I doubt it will be of any use, but I found solice in doing it… It’ll give me a chance to act some of my frustrations out on yo lot out there… I’ve not Idea why…

Never mind eh?

Woah there!

Heheheh found a site care of Kobe, which is actually got some cool stuff on it…

Take a look… well worth it! www.xtaz.co.uk. I like the “A message to hackers” very cleverly done… hat’s off to the guy!

*sigh* another day...

Well, we did squat all last night… Once the site was finished I couldn’t be arsed to do owt else… sigh Anyway…

So today I’m making a concious effort to “Work at my finances”. Whch basically involves phoning barclaycall and checking that my DD’s went out alreet.

I also checked with Barclaycard… the bastards have gone and upped my credit limit… they’re still trying to tempt me to spend money, but I can’t be arsed paying it back if I do spend it :P I may have to flee the country to, ooo I dunno ...

Payback... I think...

Okay so here’s payback for the blatant pluggery from BenC… Time to go see BenC… He da man!

On a side note, i’ve been playing with my signature script… the one that rotates my signatures for OutHouse Express… Now I get a random siggy out of 352 signatures every 5 mins…

God I’m sad…

console tastic...

I got completely and utterly fed up of logging into PHPMyAdmin to add a blog entry… so today I did what i should have done yesterday… I created a console for adding blod entries… YaY for me!

On a side note, while perusing /. I found this discussion on spammers and how some people have been so miffed at them they’ve taken the bastards to court.

Now if only we could get the assholes who send the Visit my pr0n NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! type of this… ya know the type… the ones where they use more exclamation marks than actual text… sigh ...

Gah! I hate it when a good plan falls apart

Got into the office, only to be called over by PHB and told to keep my schedule clear for today… Why? Because we’re getting the office done out with 2 new little office type things and 1 huge meeting room.

Okay said I, and went about organising the movement of desks and phones and network access points to their new locations in time for the building work to be done tomorrow… Bugger! And i only just managed to get it all logged and documented… :(

Started doing stuff on PANTHER as well… (PATHER aka Athena in C#) so we’ll ...

mmmmm tasty bandwidth...

Well folks I decided today that I’d better join the rest of the world wnd I signed up with Nildram for ADSL

Now that i’ve worked out what’s coming and going i decided that I might as well sign up for a lightening fast connection with someone decent… and benc suggested Nildram… so here goes… hopefully we’ll get sorted ASAP! :P

I feel dirty...

Oh god I’m not well…

Rob (work blokie) was asked to buy a pooter for someone else, and being a good little boy, he decided he’d buy one from PC World… I tagged along to inspect the premises…

Got there and saw they had a nice little 5 port switch "ON OFFER" so I decided to invest. My first mistake :(

When i got to the checkout with my newly aquired switch, I found that the switch I was holding wasn’t actually "ON OFFER", but actually another model (To be precise twas a nice little netgear jobbie and ...

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee we no like that...

I’m pissed off… Can’t concentrate on work AT ALL… I’ve no idea what’s bothering me… Frustrations over work? Lack of significant other? The Sister? Could be anything… and I’ve little motivation to try and figure out what’s happening… Sooner or later it’ll come to me…

In the mean time, go check out this guy he’s a laff!

On a side note, we had immense fun ripping an old mac that was lying about the office to bits. Ripped out all the internals and we’re going to mount it on the wall ...

Oh god I'm so pathetic...

At the first major sign of depression I hit the bottle… Sad init…

Last night after I got off the fone with Theo, i found my bottle of vodka and basically made a major drinking faux pax. Downed 3/4 of a bottle on an empty stomache. I’m surprised i’m not in hospital today recovering from alcohol poisoning. Strange how the body reacts eh?

Oh well so I spoke to my new friend lee, (who I think is seriously cute), done a splash screen for theo’s new project (MooSH!) and reorganised my playlist to exclude the really ...

What to do...??

Argh!

My head hurts, I’m tired and I just want to go home.

I got no sleep at all last night as a result i’m completely and utterly nackerd now. It’s painfull it hurts :(

Oh well… this was just a quickie… Post more later when I suspect the shit will hit the fan, after this weekends fiasco with the bitch of a website. We’ll see…

Mmmmmmm tea… I wish my doctor hadn’t told me to lay off the coffee… I could do with a nice smooth latte right now. Mmmmmmm tea…

In the meantime, check ...

Interesting days...

It’s strange… After a pretty serious depression thing, how I bounce back at things with almost double what was originally there…

We spent most of the afternoon arguing over fonts for [col] which ones would look best, and Keith having the shittyest monitor (it’s actually his eye’s as he can’t see shit :P (hia Keith ;))) and font resolution had to be the one who changes the fonts.

In the end we settled on the original fonts, only the headline text was brough down a few sizes in line with the rest of the page. I give ...

Changes...

Well, I’ve made a few slight changes to my life…

First of all, I’ve asked the sweetest person I’ve met, [lee], to be my significant other… Which we both talked about and agree’d to.

Secondly, I’ve decided to stay in Cumbria for the foreseeable future. This has come about because of the obvious first change, and secondly because I want to make another go at CN. It’s been pissing me off, but as I said in one of my previous posts, I’ve dug my own hole.

Congratulations go to the PHB who’s ...

Updates...

I’ve updated some bits of the site that I didn’t like, for example the links in teh body of the site will show up underlined. This is one of the minor changes to the front end i’ve done.

I’ve also added an output filter to the body text formatter. This basically does a load of things. It means that I can add links to friends and frequently used links like trekkers rest quickly. It also means I can blog and bugger off without having to make sure the link works.

YaY for me! Also cleaned up ...

Work Sire? Indeed...

Well work was cool today. I’ve spent the entire day here in Carlisle, in HQ, speaking to various people and getting more and more and more work… Even though I don’t like confronting people, and telling them what they can and can’t have today’s been really productive.

[lee] is coming over tonight, so I’m in a good mood about that. We plan on an evening in front of the box (well my computer) watching DVD‘s. I’ve yet to see the classic Nosferatu.

Got given a load of SIC (Standard Industry Classifications) for some ...

if your lost...

…you can look—and you will find me
Time after time
If you fall I will catch you—I’ll be waiting
Time after time

Mmmmmmm tasty song… i implore you to find and listen to ‘Time after Time’ by ‘Everyone by the girl’. Top chown…

[lee]‘s gone home, so we’re doing some work from dropping into a very mild depression, so far it’s working, but Standard Industry Classifications really are boring. It’s unbelieveable… Mike’s going to have Soooooooo much fun with these :P

Urgh! I hate colds...

Ick! Woke up this morning with a comeplete bastard of a headache and coughing my guts up… Yes folks I have a cold. And i’m not enjoying it :/

It’s taken all my willpower to sit down and concentrate on work today… i was going to go home lunchtime, but it’s only a bloddy cold… I’m not a complete whimp.

Lot’s of Paracetamol, non-alcoholic liquids and a warm bed for me tonight…

I hate being ill...

Bastard! I’ve gone and gotten myself a nice little chest infection. Great! This really tops my weekend… I’ve taken the day off work to try and recover, without inflicting my horrid coughy uppy green stuff on everyone else… It’s vile and I doubt anybody else wants it.

More later… dependant on how i’m feeling…

ASCII Fun...

Thanks to benc for hosting this… He can pay for the bandwidth since he co-owns notnet…

Tux Fantasticness and DVD Logo which ironically uses the DeCSS source code for the display :P

Hehehehe…

Ponderance...

Well as i’ve been ill today, i’ve had plenty of time to do some thinking.

What am I thinking? Well a few things really… I’m deciding whether or not to go all out CMS on GotWorms instead of hacky fudgy code that is here already… sure it’s fast… I mean it generates a page in under 0.02 of a second, but it means I have to create a new file for each and every bit that I want to populate with shit.

Arsey at best…

Having been ordered by [lee] to goto bed, cos I ...

Bloody 'ell it's windy...

Eeeek gad! It’s damn windy today…. Sooo windy in fact I had trouble standing up this morning on my way to work… I hope I’ve still got tiles left on my roof…

Bought some DVD‘s yesterday in town, X-Men Special Edition and The Matrix Collectors Edition with loads of extras… Not watched the extra’s yet… I also got Stigmata on friday while on my way back from the doctors via WHSmiths ;)

Oh well… back to the grind stone…

Mwhahahahaha... CSSTastic

[rachel] has made some cool alterations to her site…

She now sports a "style me" and a "stylesheet hall of fame" both of which are usfull if you want to fill an afternoon… Styling someone else’s site is soooooooo hard… especially when you don’t know what their calling things… :P

I quite happily put my hands up and claim the MooMunch style as me own… mwhahahahahahaha what a vile excuse for a styleseet… but hats off to rachel, she’s done a really good job… hehehe should be interesting… I’ll keep an eye on it for some ...

SQL Server madness and Data protection Crap

Okay, so decided to "borrow" SQL Server dev edition from office to do some development with Pgorums and other stuff… lo and behold the bastard thing won’t bloody install. methinks it’s a case of remove of SQL Server 7 and install of 2000…

[lee] is over to do some research on the <dramatic music>data protection act</dramatic music> for his college work… Seeing as I’m generally considered sad because I printed it off and went through it with a fine toothcomb, I thought I’d help him out. Oh dear… Did i mention that I hate ...

Hmmmm ponderances...

Well…

Yeah…

Hmmmm….

Okay… I’m sad… It’s official… I’ve managed to out-sad myself yet again… I’ve come up with a protocol… Not JUST a protocol, but also the mechanisms for Data exchange, and a shit load of other things… Coupled with that a physical network diagram and data flow, use cases, UML and a lovely set of flow charts to indicate how my protocol should work…

What’s it for? Nothing major… just management protocols, Server, CRM, Domain, Mail, News, Content, Editorial basically the protocol can be applied to ANY system so long as the system ...

Oh well...

So we did some updates to the CSS used on GotWorms.co.uk… All works fine, but I’ve lost my little lines around my title bars… I think it can do it, but getting it to wrap as well is going to be hard methinks…

I’ve gotten rid of the horrid 2 squares to the right of the page and opened it out for content, since I seem to have a column spare now, and I’ve also wrapped the content round… I’ll work on a CSS Switch tonight… not because EVERYONE seems to be doing it ...
